NSW assistant agents, are you on track to complete your licence training?
7 March 2023
As a NSW certificate of registration holder undertaking Class 2 licence training, we wanted to remind you of the obligations NSW Fair Trading requires you to meet.
What are your study obligations?
NSW Fair Trading requires assistant agents to:
complete at least three units from the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice each CPD year (between 23 March and 22 March),
complete the full CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice within four years of the registration commencement date, and
apply for a Class 2 licence upon successful completion of the Certificate IV course, prior to the registration expiry.
If you were granted your certificate of registration when the property reforms were implemented (23 March 2020) you now have 12 months to complete the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice.
It is important for registration holders to be aware that, if the above condition are not met, NSW Fair Trading will not offer an extension on an expired Assistant Agent Certificate of Registration. Individuals must wait a period of 12 months before being eligible to reapply for a Certificate of registration.
Check your registration expiry date
Are you unsure when your certificate of registration is due to expire? Search your name or registration number on the NSW Public Register.
Recognition of prior learning
Did you know we offer recognition of prior learning (RPL)? The more time you spend in the property industry, the more eligible for RPL you become. RPL can aid in streamlining the completion of your Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice qualification. Learn more.

Online learning is different for everyone
We understand that sometimes it can be challenging to maintain momentum whilst completing studies online. Life happens, and that’s okay! That’s why we don’t place time limitations on enrolment* and student support is free of charge.
Have questions?
or
*Although we do not limit the time students have to complete courses with us, you will still need to keep in mind any cut-off dates imposed by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and your state/territory's regulatory body, such as due dates for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) or units from a training package that is being phased out. We can work with you to support you in meeting any applicable deadlines.
